Acceptance

By accessing or using the Service (as defined below), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility and Supervision

The Service is intended for families with children ages 8 to 12. For the current launch, a parent or guardian must create or approve the account before a child can use projects or AI coaching. By allowing a child to use the Service, you represent that you are the parent or guardian or otherwise have authority to consent on the child's behalf.

Description of the Service

Naru-AI, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“we,” “our,” or “us”), operates STEMBuddy at stembuddy.app, including its in-app learning and story experiences such as Codex Society (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is a science project companion that guides users through the scientific method (hypothesis, procedure, data collection, conclusion, and communication). It includes AI-powered coaching and requires account sign-in (for example, Google or email link). Classroom or school-managed features, if offered later, may be governed by separate terms. The Service is provided “as is” and we do not guarantee any particular educational outcome.

Hands-On Activities, Safety, and Supervision

Some investigations involve hands-on activities using common household materials. An adult must review and supervise any hands-on activity, decide whether it is appropriate for the child and the environment, and follow the safety instructions provided in the Service. To the extent permitted by law, the adult assumes the ordinary and inherent risks of activities they choose to conduct; the Service is an educational guide, not a substitute for adult judgment and supervision. Nothing in these Terms excludes any liability or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
Harass, abuse, or harm others, or attempt to extract personal information from other users.
Misuse the AI features (e.g., attempt to generate inappropriate content or circumvent safety measures).
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or our systems.

We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the Service.

Account and Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. The account holder (Field Director / parent) may delete the account and all associated data from Parent Hub → Account → Delete Account in the app, or by contacting us at legal@stembuddy.app. Account deletion is restricted to the account holder so that learner profiles in a household cannot independently delete the parent's account. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

Some features require a paid subscription. The current plans, prices, and billing intervals (monthly or annual) are shown in the app and at checkout before you pay. Payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.

Automatic renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for your plan, using your payment method on file, until you cancel. We disclose the renewing nature, price, and interval at the time of purchase.
Cancellation. You can cancel anytime from Parent Hub → Account, or by contacting us at support@stembuddy.app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep paid access until then, after which the account returns to the free tier with your saved projects intact. There is no cancellation fee.
Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable; however, we review refund requests individually and in good faith — contact us at support@stembuddy.app and we will work with you.
Price changes. We may change prices or plans. We will give advance notice of any change that affects your renewal, and the new price applies only to billing periods after that notice. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the change takes effect.
Promotions and referral credits. We may offer promotional or referral credits from time to time. These are promotional, have no cash value, and are governed by their own terms; we may change or end them as described in those terms.
Taxes. Prices may exclude applicable taxes, which we may add where required.

Your Content

You retain ownership of content you create in the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to host, store, display, and process that content only as needed to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service's core educational features (for example, to run AI coaching and save your projects).

Our Intellectual Property

We and our licensors own the Service and all software, designs, text, graphics, characters, the Codex Society world, and trademarks in it. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your family’s personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer, scrape, or use automated means to access or extract data from the Service, or use it to build a competing product or to train a machine-learning model, except as permitted by law. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them without obligation to you.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT IT WILL ACHIEVE ANY PARTICULAR EDUCATIONAL RESULT.

The Service uses AI to coach learners and generate content. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. It is a learning aid — not professional, educational, medical, or safety advice — and should not be relied on as the sole basis for any decision. Always apply your own judgment and adult supervision, and verify anything important.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NARU-AI, LLC AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, AND EMPLOYEES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Naru-AI, LLC from third-party claims arising from your unlawful or intentional misuse of the Service, content you provide that violates a third party’s rights, or your material breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own negligence, willful misconduct, or breach of these Terms.

Copyright Complaints (DMCA)

We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our copyright agent (below) that includes: (1) your physical or electronic signature; (2) identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed; (3) identification of the allegedly infringing material and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it; (4) your name, address, telephone number, and email; (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law; and (6) a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

We remove material we believe in good faith is infringing, and we have adopted and will, in appropriate circumstances, reasonably implement a policy of terminating the accounts of repeat infringers.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Except that either party may bring an eligible individual claim in small-claims court in your county of residence, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in these Terms waives any right you cannot waive under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the place where you live.

General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and COPPA Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Naru-AI, LLC regarding the Service. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to an affiliate or successor (for example, in a merger or acquisition). Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Hands-On Activities and Safety, Your Content, Our Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law and Disputes — survive. You consent to receive notices and disclosures from us electronically, in the app or by email.

Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page, update the “Last Updated” date, and provide direct notice (in the app or by email) of material changes. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, you may stop using the Service, cancel a subscription, export your data, or delete the account.
